Colin Atkins, River Nene Organic Vegetables
Colin Atkins joined the Royal Air Force straight from school and, when
after eight years his career in the forces came to an end, the need to
pay the mortgage and life’s numerous other expenses saw him fall into
a career in recruitment for the engineering industry. After a decade on
the recruitment treadmill and the birth of his son, Colin decided that
a change of lifestyle was required.

Harriet Phillips, Harriet Phillips Jewellery
As Harriet Phillips neared the age of 30 she was feeling well and truly
stuck on the professional treadmill. Relocating to London following her
graduation from university, Harriet began a career in financial recruitment.
Seven years later, she was still in the same profession, just with more
significant targets and greater pressure. As she explains, “I was getting
